Mid-Late 1800s Folk Art Roses and Buds Quilt

$548.00
sold out
DESCRIPTION

Absolutely stunning & intricate late 1800s roses & buds appliqué quilt. Truly a piece of American folk art that I am passing on from my own collection. Painstakingly stitched and quilted by hand, this is an example of master quilting and craftsmanship. comprised of intricate hand stitching, vegetable dyed appliqué, and poison green calico. Quilt is a mid-weight.

I have worked many hours securing any larger pieces of the applique that have come unsewn. No holes and only minor discolorations, which are mostly concentrated to the back - quilt is in good shape for its age and the front presents beautifully.

Measures 85” x 93”. Shown on a full size bed, but can accommodate a queen.

***Please allow one week to ship, as I am still hand-sewing loose appliqué pieces***

DETAILS
  1. 100% cotton

  2. From the mid-late 1800s

  3. Dry clean recommended

Please do not cut this quilt to use in any projects. It is too rare and in too good of condition to be used as a cutter quilt. It would be tragic alter or cut this beautiful piece of 1800s textile history.

Keep in mind that this is an antique piece, and those often have little imperfections that reflect the rich, long life it has lived. All photos are taken in natural light with only minor editing to reflect its condition.
